Kevin Lyttle – Slow Motion
As the dark winter months continue to draw on, there are times when music is often the only respite we have to find some light as we hold tight until spring finally arrives. Kevin Lyttle’s ‘Slow Motion’ is the kind of upbeat R&B tune that offers just the kind of neon tinged dance beats to blow away the cobwebs and bring a little joy into an otherwise low key time of year. With its clattering drums that provide an afrobeat underpinning, Kevin Lyttle’s own vocal stylings warp and weave across the track as though dancing alongside the instrumentation. When the brass notes step in, there’s an added sense of fun and the feeling of a party atmosphere – this wouldn’t be out of place at the Notting Hill Carnival. In some ways it would be fair to say it’s more the kind of track that would fit well on the right kind of compilation album, as it ultimately lacks that certain punch that makes a song stand up and demand to be noticed, but it’s exactly the kind of tune that will sit well on a party playlist to get bodies moving and keeping the good times going. ‘Slow Motion’ perhaps, but there’s a speediness that lies within that will get a whole lot of folks moving.
