Sweet Sweet – In Tandem
With joyful harmonies and a bright, fresh feel, Sweet Sweet’s In Tandem is the perfect sound for that moment when we begin to shift the seasons from summer to autumn.
‘To The Stars’ opens the EP with a gorgeous shuffling acoustic guitar and a relaxed attitude that all builds towards a soaring chorus. It’s so carefully orchestrated that it has the ability to make any worries or concerns you might have simply fly away for its duration. ‘Daylight’ takes the folk tones and uses the sound for all its worth, with evocative strings that add a more melancholic feel, while ‘Remind Me’ brings a more playful feel. The track somewhat surprisingly leans in the direction of a lullaby blended with the kind of campfire song that everyone can join in with. Add to that some flashes of thoughtful touches in the production, chiming bells that reveal themselves along the way and shy unassuming hand claps all make for delightful listening. ‘Cellars and Closets’ probably feels the most immediately accessible and familiar, with shades of Damien Rice and Father John Misty, while standing up on its own two feet very capably as an original song. Overall it’s a beautiful collection of songs with a sensitivity – closing track ‘Lost Kids’ really lets the folksy vibe shine with some truly glorious vocals that really shine, finishing things off with a joyful gloss that leaves a pleasant aftertaste.
